Safety Requirements

Moving objects, such as machine axles and other structural parts, can be dangerous and fatal. Please keep this in mind and work always observing the safety standards and requirements specified in the instructions for your equipment.

The main hazards that can arise during gas cutting:

  • explosion of mixtures of combustible gases with oxygen and air (in particular: explosions of acetylene generators if operating rules are not followed, explosions and destruction of hoses and pipelines in case of reverse impact of the flame and ingress of oxygen (into the fuel line) or fuel (into the oxygen line), and in the absence or malfunction of protective devices);
  • ignition and explosions caused by contact of compressed oxygen with oils or fatty substances;
  • explosions of flammable substances, in particular acetylene, as a result of polymerization, decay or detonation at high temperature, arising from non-compliance with established operating conditions, as well as when heating frozen generators and protective devices without taking into account the necessary precautions;
  • explosions caused by the destruction of cylinders and other vessels operating under pressure due to excessive heating, falling, shock, etc .;
  • fires, burns and injuries with hot metal and drops of molten metal and slag if the necessary precautions are not observed;
  • electric shock when performing repairs without turning off the power;
  • damage to or irritation of the eye by rays of flame, scale, flying off the surface of the product, splashes of metal and slag when working without safety glasses;
  • poisoning with combustible products formed by nitrogen oxides or toxic fumes of metals and their oxides with insufficient ventilation or its absence, non-use of personal respiratory protection;
  • occupational diseases resulting from the ingestion of dust and other particles, especially those containing quartz.

Before starting work, we strongly recommend that you familiarize yourself with the basic provisions of the rules and safety standards for gas cutting.
