Connection of several Clients to one Server

Attention!

Make sure that the "Connection of several Clients to one Server" option is active before starting work.

The "Connection of several Clients to one Server" feature allows you to view an control your CNC machine from several Windows based workstations.

By default, only one Client (graphical user interface) can be connected to each Server (the control module of the PUMOTIX).

If this option is available it becomes possible to connect two or more Clients to one Server. Additional Clients can be either local (running within the same computer) or remote (running on different computers in a local or global network).

When connecting a local host Client (running on the same workstation as the Server), full access to the program is granted.

Running multiple Clients on the same workstation

Running multiple Clients on a computer with multiple monitors will allow you to display several different operating screens of the CNC software at the same time. For example, monitor #1 always displays the "Workflow" tab, while monitor #2 always displays the "Diagnostics" tab.

Remote connection handling

When a remote Client is connected (running relative to the Server on a different workstation), it switches to read only mode by default. In this case only monitoring is available. Any influence on the system and its settings is disabled for security reasons.

If necessary, the remote Client can also get full access to the CNC system. To exit observer mode and transfer control of the Server to another Client, go to the menu item "Configuration" → "Access Control settings".

Press the lock button to unlock the Server control. Then enter the password if it is set to connect to the Server.

To set a password:

  • turn off read only mode;
  • enter and confirm your new password;
  • click the "Change password" button.

Reconnecting clients

The client remembers the Server it was connected to. After the Client starts again, it will attempt to connect to the last used server. If the connection is successful, the Client will switch to read only mode.
