Valves and Delays

The PUMOTIX control system with the Oxy-fuel cutting module has 4 special outputs for controlling gas valves and 1 output for controlling a spark of an automatic burner ignition system. To provide flexible tuning of the operation of gas supply valves, the program provides for temporary delays in opening/closing of valves.

Valve control signals

The control signals for the gas and oxygen supply valves are configured in the menu “Configuration” → “Settings” → “Oxy-Fuel” → “Valves Control Outputs”.

Logically, the signals are divided into three groups:

  1. ignition control signals;
  2. prehaet control signals;
  3. cutting control signals.
Ignition

The automatic ignition system is designed for automated ignition of the main gas burner on command from the control program (for example, LT-DH-03 auto ignition). If there is no auto ignition system on the gas cutting machine, then no additional signal settings are required. When installing on the automatic ignition machine, additional control signals are required:

  • gas valve output;
  • spark output.

Using the first output, the system controls the gas supply valve to the ignition burner. The arrester unit responsible for supplying a spark is connected to the second output. For the correct operation of the auto ignition system, the following delays must be set:

  • delay after gas supply, s;
  • the duration of the spark, s.

When the internal ignition subroutine is started, the system will execute the delay specified in seconds after opening the gas valve. This will allow to fill the ignition burner with the necessary volume of gas. After the expiration of the delay, the spark output with the specified duration will be activated. After the duration of the spark, the corresponding output will be deactivated. The ignition burner is set on fire.

Preheat

The supply of heating gas and oxygen is controlled by the following set of signals:

  • gas valve output;
  • oxy valve output.

Using the valves that must be connected to these outputs, the flow of heating gas and heating oxygen to the torch is monitored. Time delays of heating control are displayed on the main operating screen of the module (detailed description of heating delays).

Cutting

To control the cutting oxygen valve, the reserved signal “Cutting oxy valve output” is used. Purge oxygen is supplied by the cutting torch start command: by the corresponding button in the program interface or by the M03 command from the control unit or the G-code manual entry line. Time delays related to the cutting process are displayed on the main operating screen of the module (detailed description of cutting delays).
